So! I beat Skyward Sword a couple of days ago and when I beat a new Zelda game I like making my own little review of it ^^ if you're interested, read on! If not, go do something else I guess! XD
First of all, the fuzz everyone made: the graphics, honestly I didn't care that much for the graphics, they looked nice and they fit with the game, but I didn't "feel like playing inside a painting" like one guy from Nintendo said; that they wanted to give that effect, well, it didn't work on me XD I still prefer TP graphics and I think it would have looked so much better with them, but then again, is time I really didn't care for them :3
Now more onto the game itself; I simply LOVED it as a story, it was wonderful the beautiful relationship between Link and Zelda
The characters! Link and Zelda are lovely, covered that already. Let's start with Fi! Fi, oh Fi... how I ADORED AND LOVED HER!! She was to me the perfect companion, so graceful and weird but in a funny way (laughed so hard when Scrapper fell for her and she was all like "..." X'D), she wasn't annoying like so people say Navi is, and she doesn't steel Link's thunder like Midna does!!
Now onto gameplay. First, I have to say that so far, this was the hardest Zelda game I've played, getting used to how to look for your opportunities to attack and shield bashing was a great challenge, and I ended up loving playing that way, but there are other aspects in where the gameplay that really let me down; first of all, you are WAY TOO guided, with the dowsing and everyone telling you what to do, there's not much room for exploring and adventuring, something I LOVE to do in every single Zelda game, to explore my way on my own to the next temple... with small hints sure, but not having someone pointing so obviously to me where to go next... that brings me to the world map, which to me it didn't feel like one at all, it felt like stages, pretty much like in four swords... in TP it was EPIC riding Epona across the fields because all of a sudden you would have bokoblins chasing after you and putting up a fight; flying around a big island in the sky surrounded by little ones with 90% of the map being clouds... doesn't feel like that, not one bit.
In all Zelda games you have to do something to access a new temple, but the things you had to do to get to every temple, in my opinion, where ridiculously long, so much that when I actually made it to the temple I felt like taking a break, because everything that you have to do feels like... a sub-temple! (XD).
Last but not least, the way of carrying items and upgrading them and shields' durability, I thought it was GREAT, gave some new taste to the game and made your playing even more careful and difficult, since you had to think carefully what to bring with you and how to play so your shield didn't get broken, thank God the Hylian shield was like the most perfect, unbreakable shield ever though, I became really good at shield bashing and when fighting Ghirahim and Demise I didn't have that much of a problem, but if I would have gotten hit by Demise's three in a row hits my Goddess shield would have died I'm sure XD
And finally, I have to make a mention to the music, I've loved Zelda music since forever and every new Zelda game also got me excited as to what the music was going to be, all I have to say is, another master piece Koji Kondo, you rule my Zelda world completely, thank you for making the best video game music ever throughout 25 years
So, DEFINITELY an incredible Zelda game, but it's far from being the best to me

about fi, i loved her too! she was so beatiful and graceful and useful :> i don't know why so many people say she's even more annoying that navi. i personally was always eager to see her pop from my sword to say something xD and i loved how she spoke in %. but it is true she would say some obvious things from time to time.
i've never been a zelink shipper till i played SS :> they're so cute together and it's just so obvious they had a thing for each other. i personally really liked the fact nintendo chose not to do a kissey kiss scene or whatever.
and yes, ghirahim is love <3
FI!
I just wish the ending had been longer
It's like, they gave huge and great scenes during the game, but they came short at the ending... when you're seeing such sweet scenes it natural to expect to see a greater one in the end! xP
I also loved the emotional aspect of it. It was the best Zelda emotionally wise I really think theyre making progress there.
I really don't think they developed the game map enough though I was extremely disappointed with that.
Oh and I never want to see a set in stone romance. It would just take a lot of freedom from the game.
Fi was too obvious too many times yes which I actually thought that was funny, her mathematical analysis of everything really amused me, but she was graceful, beautiful, respectful and loyal, the perfect being to represent the spirit of the Master Sword, if I had a sword, I would want it to be like her
And so far, there's no other Zelda game that had such much emotion put into it, which was a great thing for me, and I don't see what's wrong with romance, haha there actually is love between Pipit and Karane, but I want it for once between Link and Zelda >.> and I'm not alone in this
